Okay, I won’t do a full-fledged review since it’s almost 3 a.m., but let it be said that: yes, I saw Revenge of the Sith at midnight; and no, I didn’t love it.
In fact, I was rather surprised that the initial reviews were so good. There was some dialoge that was just too cheesy for words, and the Emperor/Darth Sidius acted just plain silly quite a few times.
I was also disappointed that there weren’t any major revelations. Some of the reviews I read said that we were going to learn a few really surprising things that would make us want to re-watch the original trilogy again. I’m not quite sure what those big things are… maybe I just read too many spoilers? I dunno.
All that said, however, I’m still glad I saw it. I may do a more in-depth review sometime soon. I do intend on seeing it again next week.
I honestly think that the stellar reviews are all IN COMPARISON to Episodes I and II. I enjoyed it greatly, but it was no Empire Strikes Back. I really liked Palpatine, though. He was a scene-stealer.
I’m not entirely sure why, but I still liked Attack of the Clones the best (out of the “new” ones). I think it may have something to do with the waterworld? Or I think my expectations for Clones as so low that I was easily impressed, whereas for this one, my expectations were much higher so it came as a disappointment. I’m not sure.
Mm, see, I disliked Episode II so much that I don’t even own it and never rented it either. Saw it twice in the theater and never again. For me, I was hoping against hope that it would be awesome to make up for EI and it made me vomit. It was like George Lucas would NOT STOP raping my childhood.
