{"id":189,"date":"2006-02-28T16:25:20","date_gmt":"2006-02-28T23:25:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thecompany.net\/jason\/posts\/2006\/2046-and-the-oscars\/"},"modified":"2006-02-28T16:32:37","modified_gmt":"2006-02-28T23:32:37","slug":"2046-and-the-oscars","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thecompany.net\/jason\/posts\/2006\/2046-and-the-oscars\/","title":{"rendered":"2046 and the Oscars"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you aren&#8217;t aware of my obsession with the film <i>2046<\/i>, well, <a href=\"index.php?s=2046\">do a search for &#8220;2046&#8221; on my blog<\/a> and you should get an idea of how much I love this movie.<\/p>\n<p>That said, I was sad (though not surprised) that <i>2046<\/i> wasn&#8217;t mentioned anywhere when it came time for film award season. I understand that it&#8217;s a foreign movie and that it was technically released abroad (in Asia, at least) in 2004, but still, this movie deserved something at the Academy Awards or Golden Globes. (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0212712\/awards\">See the awards it did win over at IMDB.<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>But what is maybe more saddening to me is that I haven&#8217;t read any critics really agreeing with me, that is until I read <a href=\"http:\/\/www.salon.com\/ent\/movies\/feature\/2006\/02\/28\/overlooked\/\">&#8220;Pushing the envelope&#8221;<\/a> by Stephanie Zacharek over at <a href=\"http:\/\/salon.com\">Salon.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>She mentioned that Tony Leung, Gong Li, and Zhang Zihi all deserved recognition for their work in <i>2046<\/i>, and I love her for saying that.<\/p>\n<p>I would probably award <i>2046<\/i> something in every category, but that&#8217;s just me.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If you aren&#8217;t aware of my obsession with the film 2046, well, do a search for &#8220;2046&#8221; on my blog and you should get an idea of how much I love this movie.
